A donation from a Devon rugby club has boosted a village's fundraising crusade to improve its community green.

The East Budleigh Village Green committee held an information day at the village hall for residents to view the proposed plans to regenerate the site.

A new totaliser was unveiled by the committee and it was announced that the Exeter Chiefs has donated funds, bringing the total raised to £35,000.

There were also old newspaper clippings, provided by East Budleigh resident Cathy Moyle, which showed the village green through the years.

Committee member Alice Gater said: “It was wonderful to see how the area used to look - there are even photos of the village hall being built and new equipment being unveiled in the play area.”

Anyone who wants to get involved in the project can call Alice on 01395 443787.
