Bill 'from Exmouth' broke down in tears explaining to radio host James O'Brien that regretted his decision to vote to leave the EU.
A ‘leave’ voter from East Devon broke down in tears while admitting he regretted his vote on a leading radio station.
The remarkable moment was aired live on James O’Brien’s LBC radio show this week.
Bill ‘from Exmouth’ called the radio show yesterday (November 15) after hearing the news Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab and Work and Pensions Secretary Esther McVey had resigned from Theresa May’s cabinet.
He called the talk show to tell James O’Brien he felt he had made the wrong decision on Brexit.
“James I owe you an apology my dear fellow, I was wrong, I was wrong, I was wrong,” he said, breaking into tears.
“I’m an old fashioned git really, do you know what, you were right and I was wrong.
“For some reason I thought we were better but clearly I was wrong. What have I done to my country? I’m so sorry.”
James O’Brien appeared to be touched by Bill’s change of heart and attempted to console him: “Bill, there’s 17.4million people. You can’t take all the blame on your shoulders.
“They wouldn’t have spent all that money and put all that effort into trying to act against your own interests if they didn’t think it was plausible.
“I’m not going to let you blame yourself, Bill. No. Blame them, Bill, blame them. Do not blame yourself. Don’t be sorry, be angry. And if you’re not angry yet, I’ll be angry on your behalf.
He added: “That right there is why I’ve been doing what I’ve been doing for the last two and a half years.”
