BEACH goers will have the opportunity to get their moles checked at a free event at Exmouth beach on Saturday August 22.

The event is being hosted by the Devon Local Involvement Network (LINk) to raise awareness about sun safety and skin cancer.

The event will run from 11am - 3pm on Saturday August 22 and the tent will be located on the beach by the Octagon, opposite the BathHouse.

Everyone is welcome, no appointment needed.

Caroline Lee, community engagement worker with the project said: "We want to raise awareness of the Devon LINk as well as providing a valuable service to local people.

"In East Devon we spend a lot of time outdoors and at the beach so cases of skin cancer locally are increasing.

"We want to encourage people to get the moles they have been slightly concerned about, checked out professionally."

An NHS clinician from the Dermatology Unit usually based at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital will be on hand to check and advise.

Additional information about sun safety will be provided by partner Cancer Research UK.

Members of the public will also be able to find out how to share their views and experiences of other local health and social care services through the LINk which has been set up to give people a stronger local voice.
