A rescue mission was launched on Sunday after a woman believed her family was in difficulty at sea.
The woman phoned the emergency services after becoming concerned about the time her two sons and daughter-in-law were taking to row from Budleigh Salterton to Ladram Bay.
Portland coastguard tasked Exmouth Coastguard, Sidmouth Inshore Rescue lifeboat, Beer and Sidmouth coastguards, Exmouth’s all-weather lifeboat and requested a rescue helicopter to search for the trio.
The rescue mission was aborted when the vessel and crew arrived at its destination.
A spokesperson for Portland coastguard said: “Whilst the various units were assembling the boat turned up and all units were stood down safety advice was given by Exmouth coastguard.”
