Budleigh Salterton Chamber of Commerce has a new leader, after Mike Hillier took over as chairman.

Mr Hilliar, who is a member of the chamber representing his dad’s business South West Auto Tune, was sworn onto the executive committee at a recent annual general meeting. He takes over as chair from Christine Bentley, who served in the position for five years.

Speaking at the AGM, Mrs Bentley urged members to make use of each other and added that ‘not everything is cheaper on the internet’.

She added: “I wish the new chairman every success for his future and the future of the chamber.”

Mr Hilliar, who is also a town councillor, earlier this year agreed to take over the management of the Christmas lights in the town, which the chamber is responsible for.

Chamber president Alan Tilbury added: “We really welcome Mike. He has the ability to do the things we want – it’s really good to have him here.”
