Archant

Wooden posts which protect Budleigh Salterton’s war memorial have again been damaged over the bank holiday weekend.

It is believed that one of the posts was damaged prior to the weekend and another, which holds a light fitting designed to illuminate the memorial at night, was broken over the weekend.

A spokeswoman for the district council, which looks after the wooden posts, said: “East Devon District Council has for a number of years maintained the posts and light fitting and carried out general low-level running repairs to the war memorial.

“Our StreetScene service will be replacing the damaged post and chain and will be arranging for the council’s electrical contractor to repair the light at the earliest possible opportunity.”
