Some friends of mine were reminiscing about when they were on holiday back in the 1960/70's when, it would appear, a mechanical elephant would parade around the streets.

I have found out there was one which was apparently owned by a publican from Littleham Cross and which may have been lost in a fire which destroyed the pub.

I am hoping your readers can give me some information on the history of the elephant and some photographs, if possible. Perhaps the museum would be able to help me.

Mr Chris Dunn,
