Sophia McColgan was just six years old when her father, Joseph, began subjecting her to the most horrific sexual abuse and violence.

Fearing no one would believe her, or her brothers and sisters, the frightened little girl kept her father’s perversions secret – and his reign of terror lasted until she was a grown woman in her 20s.

Sophia bravely waived her right to anonymity and penned a book with journalist Susan McKay, Sophia’s Story, cataloguing the full and brutal extent of the 17 years of abuse she and her family were subjected to at the hands of her evil father.

Sophia McColgan had ‘no idea’ her Dray Court resident father had been facing fresh charges in 2010 for possessing child pornography.
