The Rolle Exmouth project has received another financial boost thanks to Exmouth Town Council and the town’s mayor.
Every year, the Mayor of Exmouth chooses charitable causes to support with fundraising, and during the past year one of Councillor John Humphreys’ charities has been Rolle Exmouth Limited (REL).
To this end, he has now presented a cheque for more than £2,500 to the group, which combined with other fundraising brings the total to more than £2,800.
Cllr Humphreys said: “[REL chairman] Roy Pryke and his team have been doing an excellent job in working together and opening up the Rolle site for the young people of the town and for further education.”
Mr Pryke said: “We are very grateful for this very generous contribution from the mayor’s charity fund.
“It is symbolic of the tremendous support we have been receiving from the town to launch the Rolle Centre.”
REL said recently that it had set up a new, detailed investment case, with the help of district and county councils, to redevelop and refit the whole Rolle College site, having abandoned the original proposal to rent half the site from owners Plymouth University.
Cllr Humphreys is now beginning his second year as mayor, and has announced that his charity this year will be Exmouth and Lympstone Hospiscare.
