The Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Trish Oliver, donned a hard hat to help break the ground at McCarthy Stone’s latest Topsham Retirement Living Plus development, Pym Court on Beswick Avenue.
The Lord Mayor joined McCarthy Stone’s Senior Site Manager, Allen Hickman, and Assistant Site Manager, Tim Jackson, to take a closer look at development plans and mark construction at the site.
The new development will be made up of a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments exclusively designed for the over 70s. The properties will be available to buy off-plan in early 2022 and first occupants are expected in summer 2022.
The Lord Mayor commented: “It was a pleasure to visit the site of McCarthy Stone’s new development in Topsham as construction is now underway. It was a great opportunity to meet the site manager and hear first-hand about the developer’s newest retirement community, which will help to meet the housing needs of retirees in Topsham and the surrounding areas.”
Verity McKay, Divisional Marketing Manager for McCarthy Stone Southern, commented: “We are delighted Councillor Trish Oliver was able to take the time to visit our Topsham site.
“McCarthy Stone is committed to designing flexible homes which allow people to make the most of their retirement years, so it was great to be able to showcase the plans for the high-quality apartments that will eventually be available at this new development in Topsham.”
Once complete, Pym Court will provide everything the over 70s could want for an enjoyable and independent retirement. Bridging the gap between conventional retirement living and residential care, an Estate Manager and experienced team will be on hand day and night to oversee the running of the development and will also provide tailored support packages to suit individual needs.
The development will feature a large homeowners’ lounge - perfect for getting to know new neighbours - as well as an on-site bistro, which will serve fresh and nutritious meal options for homeowners every day.
