Matthias Brandle wins Devon stage of Tour of Britain

Austrian cyclist Matthias Brandle has won the fifth stage of this year’s Tour of Britain in Exeter.

The IAM Cycling rider completed the stage, which started in Exmouth this morning, in 4hrs, 32mins and 3secs, having broken away from the peleton.

New Zealander Shane Archibold took second, eight seconds behind, having just held off Belgian Maarten Wynants in third.

Michal Kwiatowski of Poland came home in seventh, and retains the overall lead of the race.

Stage six of the Tour will be held tomorrow, between Bath and Hemel Hempstead.
