A hula hoop event held by the Rotakids at Marpool School raised more than £2,000 for the NSPCC.

Youngsters from the school were raising money as part of Buddy’s Big Workout run by Childline.

Programme mascot Buddy visits primary schools, getting children to take part in activities, such as hula hoops, to raise money for NSPCC.

The charity’s schools’ organiser, Roisin Turley, visited the school to be presented with the money. Children from the school were inaugurated into the Rotakids’ scheme earlier this year.

The programme is a way of encouraging youngsters to hold community and charity events similar to those carried out by rotary club members.

The pupils were raising awareness of Childline, run by NSPCC, which youngsters can ring if they want to talk to someone.
