Children at Marpool Primary School have created their own sausages to help buy a fellow pupil a sports wheelchair.

Youngsters decided to raise funds for a child with cerebral palsy after he joined the Visions Badminton Academy, based at the Cranford Centre.

Through the school’s involvement with Rotakids, the youngest branch of the Rotary Club, children were asked to design a sausage that would be handmade by Darts Farm - with £1 per pound sold going to the cause. There were 12 finalists and three winning entries were picked.

The sausages raised £267 and a breakfast morning held by Darts Farm butchers at the school raised a further £285. A further charity donation and grant funding has helped smash the £500 target, raising a total of more than £1,800.
