A new residents’ group, which aims to challenge proposals for 150 new homes south of Marley Drive, Exmouth, has been formed.
The Marley Planning Group has been formed following a public exhibition at Brixington Community Church last Tuesday.
Preliminary plans were presented and the event attracted several hundred people. But a spokesman for the group said one of the concerns was that the outline proposals, which could be filed with district planners by January, are not included the district council’s draft local plan.
The local plan is an in-depth document currently being considered by Whitehall, and outlines how many homes should be built up to 2026, where they should be and where new jobs could be based.
A spokesman said: “We are keen to see that the democratic process is followed and that Exmouth does not end up as the dump for all EDDC housing problems.”
The group, which is working with Exmouth Civic Society, is keen to hear people’s views.
