The year 1939 in Exmouth - 70 years on. Glenorchy United Reformed Church are holding a church fair in October and will be remembering Exmouth during the wartime years and the contribution made by the local community - especially all the voluntary workers, including those in the Exmouth churches, several of which were bombed.

I have got much of the information from the library and the local newspapers of the time.

We will be arranging a display on church premises in late October and possibly holding an evening of readings and memories. Details will published nearer the time.

Meanwhile, if anyone has any small mementos, such as old ration books, wartime recipes, printed notices or even appropriate letters, which might be incorporated into the display, I would be very pleased if they could ring me on Exmouth (01395) 271731.
