Entries for the 2012 Royal Marine Endurance Challenge are now being taken - if you are brave enough to dare!

An early invitation has been launched, inviting people to take part in the Royal Marine Endurance Challenge on Woodbury Common.

Daredevils from across Devon will, on Saturday, June 16, tackle the Royal Marines’ military training course, raising funds for the Royal Marines’ Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF).

Individuals, pairs and teams are invited to take on the gruelling 17k challenge, which includes a dunk in obstacles, such as the Sheep Dip, Crocodile Pit and Peters Pool, and the underground tunnels and black bogs on the course used all year round by the Royal Marines from the nearby Lympstone Commando Training Centre.

Former Royal Marine Alan Hardy, organiser of the event, said: “It’s a great opportunity to have a crack at taking on one of the four famous Royal Marines’ military tests, which all recruits have to pass to achieve their green beret.

“All of us need to do what we can to support our troops – and this event is particularly close to my own heart, as a third generation Royal Marine within my family.

“If you really do want to make a difference, and see what type of training the Royal Marines do, then go to the Commando Challenge website now and download your entry form or enter on-line.”
