A former Exmothian is running her first London Marathon to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Louise Elcock, 32, grew up in the town, attending Brixington Primary School and Exmouth Community College, and although she has moved away she regularly returns to visit her family.
The famous race, on Sunday, April 21, will be her first marathon, although she does have some experience of endurance challenges having done the Jurassic Coast Wiggle cycle ride last year.
Louise says she was inspired to raise money for Macmillan as many of her friends have been affected by cancer, including her boyfriend’s mother, who is currently fighting the disease.
Louise said: “Macmillan give really good advice and are always there on the end of the phone, and I just want to give something back to them.”
Louise was originally aiming to raise £500, but having already passed that amount she is now targeting £1,000.
