Archant

Exmouth's marathon record breaker can put his fangs away after scaring up funds for community buses.

Dave Stone ran this year’s London Marathon dressed as Dracula, and broke the world record for the fastest marathon run while dressed as a book character.

But Dave also had charity goals in sight, and has now handed over £600 in sponsorship donations to the Exmouth and District Community Transport Group.

Dave, who also raised £250 for Cancer Research UK, has now raised more than £15,000 for local charities in 15 years of running.

His total was boosted this year by a competition held by his employer Kings Garden Centre, which offered a £100 garden furniture set to the sponsor who made the best guess at Dave’s marathon time, with Dennis and Alice O’Neill the lucky winners.

Dave intends to find another costume for next year’s marathon.

, and says he will be leaving a collection box in Kings all year, to be donated to another local charity in 2013.
