An assault in Exmouth has left a man requiring surgery after he was punched and kicked in the head, prompting a police appeal.

A young man was punched and pushed to the ground, in the early hours of Monday, by two unknown men, who then kicked him in the head, police say.

The incident occurred on Monday, May 7, at around 3.30am, outside the TSB bank on The Strand.

Investigating officer, Suzie Quinton, said: “This was an unprovoked attack which left the victim requiring surgery for injuries to his hand.

“We know that there were lots of people in the vicinity at the time of the incident and I’d ask anyone who was in the area at the time, or has any information to get in touch with police.”
