A man has admitted downloading more than 8,000 indecent images of children from the internet.

Joseph Busitil, aged 55, from South Devon, pleaded guilty to 13 charges of making indecent images when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.

Busitil, who was using an address at Rolle Barton, Otterton at the time, admitted downloading movies and still images in all three categories of seriousness between 2003 and August 2014.

He was found with 1,549 images and 41 movies at the highest category A, which depicts serious abuse by adults of children and 6,496 images and 18 movies at the lower categories B and C, which depict less serious abuse.

He also admitted possessing an extreme pornographic image depicting an adult taking part in bestiality.

Judge Graham Cottle adjourned the case for a probation pre sentence report and released Busitil on bail.
