A BRAVE cyclist from Lympstone battled against torrential rain to raise money for charity.
Stuart Woolger, of Longmeadow Road, took part in a nine hour 100 mile overnight challenge, called Exmouth Exodus, last Saturday, May 6.
The courageous rider, by doing so, raised 400 for the Gurkha Welfare Trust. His journey started in Bristol and ended in Exmouth.
Reflecting on the trip, Stuart said: "Spending all that time in the saddle was exhausting but I was rewarded with a great sense of achievement by raising the money I did.
"A large number of stalwart cyclists braved the elements to attempt the trip.
"Visibility was poor; the full moon never managed to show its face through the cloud cover and my lights just struggled to cut through the road spray and bouncing rain drops.
"Within 25 miles I was soaked through and the unseasonal cold weather was starting to bite leading to a tricky decent with cold fingers struggling to pull on the breaks.
"After the final climb from Yettington over Woodbury common, the downhill stretch to the finish on Exmouth seafront was exhilarating.
