Fire crews extinguish Lympstone log store fire

Fire crews from Exmouth were called out to deal with the fire, in Exmouth Road, ar around 2.40pm on Monday (October 16).

Fire crews put out a log store fire in Lympstone on Monday, October 16.

Crews from Exmouth attended after reports of a pile of logs on fire in Exmouth Road at around 2.40pm.

On arrival, crews discovered one log store, measuring three metres by three metres, was well alight.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the log store contained around 10 tonnes of commercial logs.

The spokesman added: “Crews requested the water bowser as the water supply in the area was bad. The water bowser from Danes Castle was mobilised.

“Crews used one 45-mil jet and one hose reel jet with water from the bowser to extinguish the fire.”
