Lympstone Beaver colony returns

Scouting in Lympstone is set to resume with the launch of the village's new Beaver colony.
After the scouting open day held last month, around 30 interested youngsters came forward, and the committee has decided to start off with the youngest children.
Ten children are expected to join the new colony, which will cater for youngsters aged six to eight, after an experienced leader came forward to run it.
The new colony will meet for the first time on September 15, and the committee’s long term aim is to recruit cub and scout leaders to provide scouting in Lympstone for older children.
Group chairman Peter Hardy said: “We think this is only the tip of the iceberg - hopefully, once things get under way, we will have more interest.
“New leaders would have full training provided, and would be supported by group scout leader Mike Hales and the committee.”
