Three lucky Postcode Lottery players were never more grateful for where they live - after winning five £5,000 dream holiday prizes between them in the national draw.

Thanks to living in the postcode EX8 2HT, they will be getting the holidays they could only have dreamed about.

Patrick Whelan, 27, a pharmacist who plays with three tickets, won three dream holidays worth a total of £15,000.

He said: “This win is unbelievable. I am still in shock - the dream holiday win couldn’t have come at a better time.”

He and his girlfriend, Catherine, are now planning to go to New York in December.

“This win will mean that we can have the holiday of a lifetime,” said Patrick.

“We will be able to stay in a nicer hotel and see more shows - things that we couldn’t have afforded before.”

Jane Robinson, a community care worker, has celebrated her 60th birthday in January and will use her prize to visit her son in Thailand.

“My son, Stephen, works in Thailand and I don’t get to see him very often as it is too expensive to travel,” she said.

“Now that I have won the Dream Holiday prize, I’m able to book my trip to visit him.”

A third winner, Gladys Vickers, 89, only started playing People’s Postcode Lottery in December and was shocked to hear she had won so soon.

She said: “I have only ever won £25 in my whole life and that was in 1957.”

Gladys will be sharing her prize with her two daughters, one son and two grandchildren.

A Street Prize draw takes place every Saturday with every ticket in one lucky postcode winning £25,000. Then, on a Sunday, every ticket in 15,000 postcodes wins £10. During the week, every ticket in five lucky postcodes wins £1,000.

This year, there will be Postcode Millions events every month, which have £2million prize pots.

In the draws, tickets in the winning postcode area share the prize.

The more tickets a person plays, the greater their share of the prize fund.

Also, one player could win a BMW 1 Series car and tickets in one postcode win a £5,000 dream holiday prize.
