TOPSHAM residents are invited to join a free city scheme which offers people shop discounts.The Exeter Card has been launched at a time when the credit crunch is biting deeper and people are beginning to feel the pinch.The Exeter Card can be used at participating shops, businesses and restaurants and can offer the cardholder discounts and special offers. Anyone can apply for the free Exeter Card online.The card was created by Exeter based company Think Tank Productions and already more than 1,000 people have subscribed to the scheme.Jake Ferguson, of Think Tank Productions said everyone was beginning to feel the pinch.He said rocketing food and fuel prices meant people were cutting down - which affected High Street spending and accelerated the rate of recession.Mr Ferguson added: "Once you have received the card, you will then receive information about the special offers available. The consumer really cannot lose. People like to get a bargain, particularly in these hard times. The businesses benefit by attracting new customers that will turn in to loyal customers who repeat their buying behaviour over and over again. They will be targeting specific groups of people interested in what they have to offer.
