I AM writing regarding the recent front page article about the proposed Londis in the town centre. I do not think a Londis is going to make any difference to the amount that people in Exmouth are drinking. When the shops and the pubs close, people will quite willingly get in a taxi and go to Tesco to gain alcohol, which is open 24 hours a day. The only difference it is going to cause is on a Sunday when the hours at Tesco are limited. Another matter I would like to raise is the lack of shops in Exmouth providing pay-as-you-go gas and electricity. Once Co-op closes at 11pm, the nearest place to buy it is Exeter! If the Londis shop does go ahead, I would like to see 24-hour access to this service to prevent us all sitting in the dark. Alternatively, the two other 24-hour shops, Tesco or the Shell garage, should consider providing it.Kate Raddy,Exeter Road, Exmouth.
