Budleigh residents, traders and councillors have come together to celebrate local produce, at an event held at Knowle village's Britannia Inn.

The ‘Secrets of Devon’ event featured wine tasting from Knowle’s own Lily Farm Vineyard, and Christopher Piper Wines of Ottery St Mary, while J and R Food Service Ltd provided a cheese and chutney sampling.

People packed into the Britannia’s refurbished restaurant to enjoy the food and drink on offer, along with cocktails and canapés.

Also in attendance were representatives from Taste of the West, of which the Britannia is a member. Landlord Jeff White, who took over the Britannia with Kate Knight last year, said he was delighted with how the event had gone.

He said: “We thought the event went off so much better than we had anticipated. With the comments we received on the day, and the flood of emails and calls, we’ve been absolutely overwhelmed.

“People appreciated the way we set it up and ran it, so it bodes well for future events.”

Jeff says he will probably look at repeating the event in around six months’ time.
