An initial agreement has been signed for a refreshment kiosk to return to Exmouth seafront at Orcombe Point, council chiefs have said.

East Devon District Council has been working to secure the return of a refreshment service, on a platform by the zig-zag path previously occupied by the old Orcombe Café.

Planning permission for a kiosk to be installed there, for a temporary period of up to three years, was granted in June, after which the council said it planned to market the concession.

An EDDC spokesperson said this week: “The heads of terms for a kiosk at Orcombe Point have been signed with a local business and more information will be available at a later date.”

At the time approval was granted, the council described the proposal as a ‘quality cafe concession’, which would feature timber cladding, as had been stipulated in the conditional planning consent.
