PUPILS at Littleham Primary School got the chance to live out the dream of most young aspiring rugby union players – lifting the coveted Championship trophy.
Tony Walker, community development manager from Exeter Chiefs, visited the school last week when children were able to hold the prize which the team won last month after their 10-29 win against Bristol.
The victory ensured the Chiefs will play in the Guiness Premiership next season.
Mr Walker said: “The kids loved being up close to the trophy which belongs after all, as part of the community from the point of view of the support they give the team throughout the season.
“It is great that we can take the trophy out to children at schools.”
Mr Walker said Littleham was a school he often worked closely with for his job. “I have been involved with tag rugby for quite a while – aimed at getting kids active.”
Exeter’s win was the first time a place in the Premiership has been decided by a play-off since 2000.
