Littleham school children have foregone sweets and chocolates and used their saved tuck shop money to help feed 15 starving children.
And at a special Easter service at the Parish Church of St Margaret & St Andrew, led by Reverend Benedict and youth worker Nigel Cadelent, it was revealed that they had raised £150 for Mary’s Meals.
Mary’s Meals is a charity that aims to provide children in developing countries with a cooked meal at school throughout the year.
The children donated small change that they may have spent on chocolate and snacks, and organised cake sales to raise over £150 for the charity.
Headteacher Duncan Nelmes said: “It is really great that the children have taken this idea of making a real difference during Lent.
“They are really pleased that they have raised enough to feed over 15 children for the coming year.
“We are so lucky to have such links with our local church. The children really feel like it is their church.”
