A TOPSHAM mum whose daughter plans to cycle 300 miles in four days as part of a charity fundraiser is appealing for generous people to donate money.

Linda McLintock-Tiongco, who was brought up in the town but now lives in Cheshire, is taking part in a bike ride for Christian Aid on Saturday, July 25.

Mrs McLintock-Tiongco will set off in London and complete the ride on the Champs Elysee, Paris.

She will finish the ride on her 57th birthday.

Her mum, Laurie Mclintock, of Monmouth Avenue, Topsham, said what Linda planned to do was extremely admirable. She added: "Linda has always been an active person."

Christian Aid, an international development charity, works with people of all faiths in more than 45 countries to combat poverty and injustice.

Linda, who works as the North West manager for the charity said: "I am telling people that, instead of buying me a birthday present, I would like them to donate money for the challenge.

"I am cycling into work everyday to prepare which is 10.5 miles each way."

Linda, who has worked for Christian Aid for 17 years, has four siblings.

Her twin sister Jacquie, lives in Cheshire, Clare, lives in Topsham, Sue, in Cornwall and brother, Brian, lives in Marlborough.

The cycle challenge entails a ride of 70 miles per day. Once she has finished, Linda said she intends to watch the Tour de France which will be taking place at the same time.
