I refer to the recent article concerning potholes in Lime Grove. While I do not live in the road, I have friends and relatives who do and I have to drive up and down it on a daily basis.

The council will be quick to use the cold winter weather as the ideal excuse for the break up of the surfacing and, indeed, sub-base layers in some areas, but I believe the reality is that Lime Grove began breaking up as soon as Stagecoach took the decision to send large double deckers buses down Lime Grove.

The surface was repaired several times before the cold weather, sometimes lasting less than a week.

The current severity is causing large chunks to flick up, damaging cars, and the amount of chippings is also causing a hazard to pedestrians, through being flicked up, as well as the trip hazard caused by large pieces of tarmac strewn around the pathways.

The delay being proposed will be far more costly to the council if an injury occurs as a direct result and I call on them, as a resident and concerned parent, to resolve this immediately. I also call on Stagecoach to consider an immediate review of bus routes and types of buses used in the area, most of which have only small numbers of people on large buses (other than peak times). These are residential roads that cannot cope with this level and now the effect is also starting to impact on Pines Road. How long before damage is done here as well?
