Lights - let’s act!

Yes, this is yet another letter concerning the ‘Scrooge’ type Christmas we are enduring in Exmouth, but a positive one, I hope.
So that we do not have a ‘black-out’ ever again, why don’t we, the residents of Exmouth and district, do something about it?
The Exmouth in Bloom committee does a sterling job, setting out and tending our floral displays, which would otherwise be non-existent. Why don’t we have an Exmouth at Christmas committee to re-instate our festive lights?
If every household donates £10 a year, which is less than three pence per day, surely this would help to bring back some Christmas cheer to Exmouth.
There must be some gifted residents out there who could take up the challenge.
As a suggestion, to bring back the real meaning of Christmas, why don’t we have a vandal-proof nativity scene in the Strand Gardens perhaps? We already have a very successful Nativity Trail.
Next Christmas, let’s make Exmouth a town worth visiting.
