Children from St Peter's Primary School learning about space

Inspired by British astronaut Tim Peake, youngsters from St Peter's Primary School have held a 'space week'.

As a result of Tim’s work in space, a learning resource pack has been created to teach children about space. St Peter’s dedicated a week to the theme.

Each morning, they started with a space-themed ‘wake up and shake up’ under an astronaut training school sign, donated by Bonds Signworks.

Children took part in experiments to make their rockets launch across the playground.

There was also a competition to see who could launch their rocket the furthest.

The school also took part in astronaut training, working on their balance and building strength and muscle for zero gravity.

Youngsters also got involved in team building activities, parachute design and worked out what they would weigh on each planet in the Solar System.
