I hope George Saints and Bob Jasper read the letters from Madge Merchant and Ken Appleford (February 5). They succinctly summarise most of the reasons why Asda should not be built beside the Exe estuary. Asda will certainly take trade from local shops, with resulting job losses, as described in research by Friends of the Earth and the New Economic Forum. Exmouth does not need Asda to degenerate it. It needs a vision and strategy for regeneration that strengthens the town as a pleasing place to live and exploits its potential as a quality holiday resort.D Hill,Ashleigh Road, Exmouth.
