Still the debate goes on as to an Asda on The Exe or not. As anyone with any common sense will realise, an Asda on The Exe will destroy the town - no question about that. East Devon District Council want Asda there for the money they will get for the sale of the land to them - no question about that either. They are not interested in the damage it will cause this town. What is needed is a referendum. A proper voting system should be set up, as in an election, and the people of Exmouth only should be allowed to vote as to whether they want an Asda on The Exe or not. I know there have been signatures collected against this proposal but, if people like Gerald Bishop think that the rest of the people are for this, we obviously need to prove him wrong. The reason a lot of people are not voting is because some do not know about it. Also, when people are busy shopping on a Saturday, they do not often have the time to stop and sign a petition. A lot of people I have spoken to have never seen a petition to sign. This does not mean they want the Asda on The Exe. D Major,(via email).
