AFTER reading last week's Exmouth Journal and the article entitled 'Taller than in original plans' (re new bowling alley building), I have now picked myself up off the floor, having composed myself once again to read on.My initial reason for being on the floor was hysterical laughter but, as I read on, it became total disbelief at what appears to be yet further demonstration of the local authority's bureaucracy and mindless stupidity.Could somebody confirm how an eagle-eyed individual managed to assess that a development of that height was too tall, given that it appears to be only by 16 inches. This type of bureaucracy, and I speak as someone who has to deal regularly with the local authority and local councillors' behaviour, is not uncommon and, in fact, is on a spiralling increase. It is about time there was someone representing the man in the street to prevent this irresponsible and costly mindless behaviour. It serves no one to carry on in this manner and there needs to be a common voice expressed to monitor and filter out the stupid from the rational.Simon Fuller,(via email).
