Let’s be positive

First of all, I should declare that I am a motorist, cyclist, runner and pedestrian so I have no axe to grind.

As a cyclist and dog walker I often use the cycle paths to Budleigh and Topsham.

If we are walking the dog, we only tend to use the Budleigh path as it is wider and a quieter route.

We allow the dog off the lead on this path but we are always on the alert for other users of the path particularly cyclists.

If l cycle this path I do so at a reasonable speed and take great care around pedestrians and dog walkers.

I don’t often use my bell but prefer to give a greeting so that people know that I am there.

So, by taking reasonable precautions, I can have an enjoyable outing and the dog is exercised.

There will always be a minority of people who take an entrenched view whatever the subject under discussion and no amount of persuasion will ever get them to change their mind.

Such is life.

At least we don’t live in Syria, wondering if the next air attack will be the last thing we ever experience.
