The owners of an Exmouth seafront restaurant have announced it is to close - and then be reborn.

Keith and Sarah Lewin have run The Waterfront Restaurant since 2014, but have now agreed to sell to the Rockfish restaurant chain.

The Waterfront will therefore close after lunch on October 2.

Keith said: “After 50 years in the hospitality industry, The Waterfront was and is something Sarah and I are immensely proud of, but with ongoing health issues, the time is right to let someone else take the reins.

“From a waste bit of land, with the help of the Carter family, we achieved a stunning seafood restaurant with a beautiful interior and outlook over Dawlish Warren that we think is an asset to Exmouth.

“In the past two-and-a-half years, we have managed to create many happy memories for our very loyal customers from far and wide. All were achieved with the help of the dedicated hard-working front-of-house team, plus our top-flight kitchen crew, together with all our hundreds, if not thousands, of great customers, whether they came just for a coffee or our stunning Waterfront Seafood Platters; we thank you and will sadly miss you all.

“Hopefully, Sarah and I will see many of you and thank you personally before we go, otherwise it will be great to come back here, sit on the terrace and enjoy some great seafood and share a bottle of wine with you.”

Keith added that any gift vouchers would be valid until the end of September, either as payment for a meal or by the return of cash.

Rockfish will also honour any that are not redeemed.

Charity vouchers will cease to have any value after The Waterfront closes.
