FLORAL wreaths were laid in Phear Park to commemorate the 66th anniversary of the D-Day landing.
A short service was held last Sunday, June 6, before wreaths were laid in front of the park's memorial.
The ceremony was attended by Normandy veterans, members of the Royal Marine Association; Royal Naval veterans, RAF Association, former Devonshire Regiment soldiers, Merchant Navy Association, 12th Infantry Regiment, US Shore Navy and the 101 Airborne Division.
Members of the local sea cadet unit were also present as well as 30 members of the public.
The service was conducted by the Rev Michael Coombe. Eleven wreaths were laid in total.
