Lack of spirit

PUBLISHED: 11:41 16 December 2011

Firstly, I would like to congratulate the organisers of the late-night shopping day in Exmouth; it was a very well run day with lots of entertainment for everyone.

Secondly, I must agree with Mr Duncliff, in last week’s edition, about there being no Christmas lights in the biggest town in Devon when, as he said, you have a small town like Budleigh Salterton with the main street full of Christmas lights.

As you walk through Exmouth, there is a distinct lack of Christmas sprit. If it were not for the shops decorating their windows, you would not think that it is Christmas in two weeks’ time.

I would like to finish by saying that I feel the Strand Gardens are the best thing that have happened to Exmouth for a long time and the proposed pavilion, with a stage, would be the icing on the cake to complete the gardens.

I must also say that I feel the skateboarders and the cyclists should be stopped from using the gardens as there could be a nasty accident if allowed to carry on.
