Kerry’s fairy marathon challenge

An Exmouth woman is hoping to magic up funds for a children’s charity, by running the London Marathon dressed as a fairy.
Kerry Roffey, 28, is taking on the famous race on April 21 complete with wings, tutu and bright pink hair.
She is raising money for Action for Children, having previously supported them with a charity abseil.
However, with no running experience before she signed up, the marathon is a much more daunting prospect.
Kerry, who lives in Albion Terrace, said: “I couldn’t even run a mile when I started training, but I’m up to 19 miles now so hopefully I’m on track.
“The training has been really hard, as when I started in November I was going out in the freezing cold and the pouring rain.”
Kerry, who works for financial advisors Beckworth in Exeter, says she is “excited but really scared” about the marathon, and she is just aiming to get round in one piece.
She is aiming to raise £1,900 for Action for Children, and is closing in on that target with less than two weeks to go.
She said: “They do a lot of work locally, which appealed to me – they do children’s centres around Exeter and East Devon.”
