A Budleigh shop owner is asking for public support after being nominated for a national award.

Katy Gooding’s What Katy Did in High Street is contesting the best vintage shop category in the National Vintage Awards.

The shop is in its fourth year, and Katy says it has proved a bit hit with customers.

She said: “The feedback I get from people when they walk in is just brilliant.

“Some people from London walked in the other day and just said ‘this is incredible’.

“I keep being asked to open a shop in Brighton or London. I get people coming for the weekend to Budleigh now just to visit my shop.

“It’s really nice that people do that. It’s a real honour.”

The national awards shortlisting is the latest recognition for the shop, which was previously named as one of the top 50 vintage boutiques in the country by the Sunday Telegraph Stella magazine.

Katy added that it would be ‘amazing’ to win a national award.

The awards are being decided through online voting at www.thenationalvintageawards.co.uk, with voting closing at the end of May.
