A group of car enthusiasts have raised vital funds for volunteers who save lives at sea.

The Jurassic Coast Mini Club, which has organised the Weymouth to Exmouth Jurassic Rally for the last 10 years, presented a cheque for £846 to Exmouth RNLI.

Over the last decade, the club has raised more than £9,000 for the town’s lifesaving volunteers.

This latest donation could allow Exmouth RNLI to train seven new crew members or buy new equipment.

Exmouth Lifeboat operations manager Kevin Riley said: “Having raised that fantastic sum of money would potentially allow us here at Exmouth to fund and train seven crew, or purchase vital equipment such as an all-weather lifeboat lifejackets which cost £494 each.

“This really is a fantastic way to support the RNLI.”

The Jurassic Coast Mini Club is one of many organisations across the country. As well as organising their own rally event, members attend most of the other major Mini meets across the UK.
