Judges in town tour of displays

MONTHS of planning and hard work by the Budleigh Salterton in Bloom committee came to a head this week when the South West in Bloom judges descended on the town.Bloom judges Michael Foy, who visited the town in 2007, and guest judge, Lesley Jellyman, spent around three hours with the Budleigh in Bloom Committee being shown around the town's floral displays.While in the town the judges were taken to see green-fingered efforts in Westfield Terrace, the new garden outside the Station Road public library, the vibrant floral displays on The Green, a side garden in Norman Crescent and the allotments in Greenway Lane. At the environmental garden and pond at St Peter's Primary School, the judges met parent Tessa Stone, who has been instrumental in showing the children aspects of nature and the world they live in. Total Eden garden centre, the Exmouth recycling centre and East Devon Golf Club all counted as part of Budleigh's 2008 entry.
