The Covid-19 pandemic is not laughing matter, but one Budleigh Salterton business is hoping a few jokes can raise funds to support those affected.

Budleigh Fish and Chips, in Chapel Street, is putting together a joke book which will be sold in the shop to raise funds for the Budleigh Covid Support Group.

The group was set up during the first lockdown to help those who are unable to get out of the house to do simple shopping or prescription pick-ups and others who have been financially affected by the pandemic.

Simon Blissett, of Budleigh Fish and Chips, said: “Did you hear the joke about pickled herring? If you did let minnow.

"I really want this joke book to be a community project and want to feature fish jokes supplied by locals."

Jokes and a small picture to accompany your joke can be emailed to Budleighfishjokes@outlook.com or can be dropped into the shop.
