An 18-minute recording by an Exmouth hypnotherapist has helped police officers, midwives and nurses with symptoms of post-traumatic stress and anxiety about going into work during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jessica Vassallo, who founded her business in Exmouth in 2015, felt it was even more important to reach people during lockdown so went into the recording studio to create a series of therapeutic recordings that she could share.

While many people have been locked down in their homes, some workers – particularly in the emergency services – have been continuing to work through the pandemic.

"I wanted to remain accessible as I was unable to meet people face to face at my clinics.

“I thought the best way was to make recordings that people could listen to at home. Teaching people how to really let go of anxiety and stress during my sessions is very effective so, I thought recreating this particular session would be a good place to start."

Jessica has continued working throughout lockdown, using Zoom to connect with people all over the UK and Europe.

She also facilitates groups for people who are struggling with anxiety, depression and emotional eating.

A nurse, who benefitted from Jessica’s ‘calming mind’ recording, said: “I’ve been listening to your recording for the last nine days and I’m feeling better, calmer, less stressed.
“I even moved home and started work in a new hospital and I’m not getting anxious. Thank you."

During Lockdown Jessica has helped people change unhealthy habits and lose weight, stop drinking alcohol, stop smoking, overcome anxiety/social anxiety, sleep better, feel more confident and relaxed.

The recording she has made deal with getting easy sleep and improving self-esteem, insomnia, cooling hot flushes and ‘thinking yourself slim’.

She is looking forward to seeing clients in person again from 12 April at The Practice Rooms, Exeter and South Beach Spa, Exmouth, while also continuing her work online.

Jessica thanked the Valvetastic studios Exeter for donating their time to help produce these recordings.
