I refer to your article in the Exmouth Journal of January 28 regarding sewage pollution on The Maer, Exmouth.
For many years, The Maer has been a dogs' toilet and probably heavily contaminated by dog faeces (which carry toxocariasis disease that can cause partial blindness in children) and not a good place to have a family picnic or barbecue. I know that many dog owners 'pick up' after their animals, but what about the dogs that are let off the leash during darkness. You don't see many people with torches on The Maer picking up dogs' mess.
Would this now be an opportune time to clean up The Maer and ban all dogs from the area?
