AN incident at a rugby match involving Exmouth Colts saw a player end up in hospital.
Police were made aware of the incident which happened at a game played between Exmouth and Sidmouth Colts last week.
Sidmouth Colts manager, John Hamill, said there had been a violent attack on one of his players who was flown by air ambulance to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. The game was abandoned.
Sergeant Andy Turner said an allegation of assault had been made.
The incident is being investigated by Honiton CID, Devon RFU and the Devon Rugby Referee Society.
