ROLLE Street’s information and advice centre, run by Age concern, has ‘surpassed expectations’ seven months after it opened its doors says the charity.

Since opening in May the information centre for older people has seen steady growth not only in the numbers of enquires received but also in the types of information the centre can handle.

The centre has taken 2,877 phone calls, seen 3,010 visitors and dealt with 3,727 requests for advice or information.

Manager Maria Bridle said: “It was always known that such an information point for older people was needed in Exmouth.

“An information centre such as this provides a lifeline contact with our local older people.”

She added that their form-filling volunteers have helped over 300 people claim attendance allowance boosting Exmouth’s economy by an estimated 686,000 per year.

The charity receives no direct funding; Age Concern Exmouth relies on local donations.
